Abstract

Agricultural insurance is underdeveloped in the Republic of Serbia, and in recent years agriculture has been threatened by increasingly pronounced climate changes. Only about 5% of the total number of agricultural farms insure their production, although subsidies have been continuously paid from the agricultural budget since 2006 for the purpose of developing agricultural insurance. The share of total agricultural insurance premiums in total non-life insurance premiums amounted as little as 4.4% in 2024. T he aim of the research is the analysis of insured risks in crop insurance on the agricultural insurance market in the Republic of Serbia and their compliance with current climate changes. Empirical, descriptive, desk research and methods of analysis and synthesis are used in the work. The author concludes that in the conditions of climate change, certain risks have lost the character of an uncertain event, as is the case with spring frosts, and insurance cannot be expected to provide economic protection for agricultural production, but other possible solutions to this problem must be considered.
