Abstract
This paper aims to understand how capable producers in the beekeeping sector are of independently using the agriculture IT platform eAgrar, and to identify the factors that may predict whether a beekeeper will use the new technology independently or will require assistance. Data for the analysis were collected using a structured questionnaire, and a total of 456 responses were obtained. The conclusion regarding the predictors of the independent use of the platform was drawn based on the results of binary logistic regression. The research showed that most beekeepers (64.3%) were capable of using the eAgrar software independently. The independent variables which have a statistically significant impact on predicting whether a beekeeper will use eAgrar independently are age, education, and the producer’s opinion about the platform’s adaptation to the local context. Beekeepers who are younger and more educated, as well as those who think that the eAgrar platform is well-adapted to the local context, are more likely to use this platform independently compared to older, less educated beekeepers and those who think that the platform is not well-adapted to the local context. The strongest predictor of the independence in using the eplatform is age. With each additional year of a beekeeper’s age, the chance of using the platform independently decreases by 0.92 times (Exp (B)=0.92; 95% CI 0.90, 0.94; p=0.000). These results can serve as a guideline for creators of government platforms and policymakers in the field of digitalization in agriculture. This guideline could highlight what should be prioritized when creating such applications to make them user-friendly.
