Abstract
Soyabean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) plays a main role in global food security as a primary source of vegetable protein, in the same time recent studies on drought in Europe highlighted soyabean as one of the major crops affected by climate changes. The research area represents the statistical region of Šumadija and Western Serbia, which is one of the five statistical regions of Serbia and covers a total area of 26,493 km². The study employed monthly temperature and precipitation data recorded at seven meteorological stations across the region of Šumadija and Western Serbia during the growing seasons (April to September) from 2005 to 2024, as well as annual soyabean yield data for the same region and period. The Pearson correlation coefficient was applied to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between monthly meteorological indicators (temperature and precipitation) and soyabean yield. The study revealed a strong negative correlation between soyabean yield and mean temperature in July (r = -0.71), as well as a strong positive correlation between soyabean yield and total precipitation in July (r = 0.66).
