Abstract

In global circumstances of climate change and disturbed water cycles, maintaining yield stabilization and further support to food security require implementation of irrigation systems. Frequent irrigation and increase in fresh water scarcity are opposing sides in many areas. Therefore, active adjustment of agriculture, mainly crop production, to climate change issues strongly relies on technical-technological progress. Strivings to approach the Agriculture 4.0 or even 5.0 concept, while to fortify the resilience of agri-food production in a long run, generally asks the appliance of fully automated irrigation systems linking the water supply and crop needs in specific moment. Performed research provide deep insight in economic justification of investment in mentioned systems done by one regionally recognized agricultural company in Serbia. According to derived results for applied static and dynamic methods for economic assessment of investment efficiency, established irrigation system could be assumed as good business alternative in securing the company incomes.
