Sustainability has progressed from a peripheral construct into a strategic imperative. Addressing ecological risk, financial exposure, and regulatory shifts, scholars and practitioners increasingly recognise corporate sustainability as indispensable for competitiveness and long‑term value creation. This investigation traces global and Romanian research trajectories from 1977 to 2024, employing Web of Science data and VOSviewer mapping. Publication growth, thematic clusters, and collaboration structures are analysed. Results show robust expansion in circular‑economy, ESG‑integration, and environmental‑management scholarship worldwide, whereas Romanian output, though accelerating post‑EU accession, remains loosely connected to leading international networks. The study advocates intensified cross‑border collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches to embed Romania more firmly within global sustainability discourse.
